Churchwide Safety Briefing

Faith-based communities gather for peace, connection, and solace, but these spaces are not immune to violence. Protecting our congregation is critically important at Orcutt Baptist Church, ensuring a secure environment where our members and guests can focus on their faith without fear.

An intruder, intent on harming church members, represents the most potentially dangerous situation for church attendees. The Church’s Security Program is designed to preclude such an event from happening. But in the event such a thing did occur, it is vitally important that our members know what to do to protect themselves. Therefore, we have arranged for a member of the Newport News Police Department, who routinely deals with churches, to provide us information on how to react. This training will be conducted on January 25, 2026 immediately following our church service in lieu of Sunday School.
